Dress like an onion.
Dress like an onion.
Easy to adjust-hard to freeze.
When the weather turns cold, the best way to stay warm is to dress in layers—just like an onion! Children especially love being warm. When they’re bundled up in layers, they can play outside without getting chilly, and they can peel off a layer if they start to feel too warm.
Base layer
This is the “under-skin” of your onion. Choose something soft and snug that keeps sweat away from the skin, like wool or thermal underwear.
Middle layer.
This is the “flesh” of your onion. It should keep in the heat. Sweaters, fleece, or a warm sweatshirt are perfect here.
Outer layer.
This is the “onion peel.” It protects you from wind and snow.
A winter jacket or/and a down jacket does the job. Jackets and shoes shoudn’t be too small. Don’t forget extras! Ski-pants in winter are a must as well as hats, gloves, scarves and socks keep the smaller parts of your body cozy.
Lapland tip: If you are unsure, dress one layer warmer, especially with babies & children-more layers mean more comfort.
